Football brought us together, but it’s not the only reason we stay. Some of our best Brisbane Inferno memories haven’t happened on a pitch at all – they’ve happened off the pitch and in the group chats in between.
Why this matters?
Brisbane Inferno is a football club, but first and foremost, we’re a community – one built by and for LGBTQIA+ people, and everyone who stands alongside us. For a lot of our members, showing up to a social event is easier than showing up to a game, especially if football hasn’t always felt like a safe space to be yourself. That’s exactly the point. We want there to be more than one way in.
Whether you’re here for the football, the community, or figuring out where you belong, there’s a place for you at Inferno – exactly as you are.
Highlights so far…
World Cup 2026 – Watch Session
When the World Cup 2026 came around, we knew we couldn’t just watch it from home. Brisbane Inferno came together to watch the first group stage game of our Socceroos: Australia vs. Türkiye. Some of our members had followed the Australian Men’s team for years; others just got swept up in the occasion. Either way, it turned into one of those shared experiences that says a lot about what Brisbane Inferno is – a place where football gives us a reason to be together, even when we’re not the ones playing.
Foot Golf – Mt. Gravatt
Not every Brisbane Inferno outing involves minutes on the pitch. We took the club out to Mt. Gravatt for a round of foot golf – part football, part golf, and entirely an excuse to spend an afternoon together outside. Turns out competitive instincts don’t disappear just because you’ve swapped the ball size – there was plenty of trash talk, a few surprisingly good shots, and a lot of laughing at very bad ones. Days like this are a reminder that you don’t need a scoreboard to have a good time as a team.
Mini-World Cup Tournament
To close out the year 2025, we ran a mini-tournament of our own – a chance for members to get competitive without the pressure of a full season on the line. Teams were mixed up, bragging rights were very much on the table, and the football was genuinely great. It was a good reminder of how much talent sits across our membership, and a fun way to end the year together before the summer break.
